How to Create Fake Calligraphy

I hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas! This post was inspired by a tutorial inside a hand lettering book that I got for Christmas. The book had many cool ideas and tips inside it, and you can check it out here. Fake calligraphy is really easy to do, but it really makes your cursive look beautiful. I showed this technique to my friend Margaret, and she loved it! She started writing everything this way and was impressed with how pretty her writing looked. I figured that since she liked it that much, other people might want to learn how to do it too, which led to me making this post.  I hope you enjoy this as much as Margaret and I do!

Step 1:

The first step is pretty self explanatory- you just write the word. I am using a basic pilot ballpoint pen.

Step 2:

In traditional calligraphy you press harder on the pen to make the line thicker on the down strokes. So, to mimic this you draw and extra line on the down strokes of your word. You just leave all the upstrokes as they are.

Step 3:

Lastly, you just fill in those double lines with your pen!

It is super quick and easy but it looks very pretty! I hope you try out this tutorial  and enjoy it !

🙂 Skye
